THE GAP GROWS THE RESIN
Petaluma Gap Terroir
Nestled in the rolling hills of Sonoma County, our farm is located in the heart of the PetaLUMA Gap, a region famous for its cooler coastal climate and unique terroir. The cool ocean breeze and fog that funnel through the hills create a microclimate that is perfect for outdoor cannabis cultivation. The temperature variation between day and night also helps the plant to develop a more complex terpene profile and a denser flower structure.
Our adobe soils, left behind by an ancient sea bed, are packed with an abundance of micronutrients, making it an ideal foundation for healthy plant growth. The soil's unique composition also plays a significant role in developing the flavor profile of our cannabis. The culmination of these factors results in top-quality, terroir-driven cannabis that showcases the unique characteristics of our farm's location.
We Farm Resin
Preservation of Resin
Preserving the quality and flavor of our resin during harvest is crucial to producing high-quality hash and rosin. To ensure that our resin maintains its unique characteristics, we have developed a careful harvesting process that involves chopping each plant individually and immediately placing the fresh flower in sub-zero temperatures. This rapid cooling allows us to capture the full range of terpenes and cannabinoids as they were on the plant, providing a true representation of the aromas and flavors we experience when walking through our garden. By prioritizing preservation at every step of the process, we are able to offer our customers a product that truly captures the essence of our cannabis.
Products + Collabs
At Luma, we are proud to collaborate with award-winning hash artists who are equally passionate about their craft. These talented individuals are constantly seeking ways to improve and perfect their techniques, and are dedicated to preserving the unique characteristics of the PetaLUMA Gap terroir in every jar of resin they create. It is gratifying to see their work showcase the distinctiveness of our Luma California living soil resin and the dedication we have to our garden.

Our Story
Meet the Team
Our Luma team is made up of passionate plant and soil enthusiasts, all of whom are dedicated to the art and science of cannabis farming. As students of agriculture, we are constantly learning and seeking new ways to improve our cultivation techniques. Our goal is simple: to grow the highest quality resin in Sonoma County. We are driven by a shared love of cannabis and a desire to push the boundaries of what is possible in organic cannabis farming.
Better for the Land and Soul
Luma was founded in 2014 as an indoor cultivation company, but the legalization of cannabis in California forced us to find a new home. Fortunately, we were able to relocate to a new farm in Sonoma County, where we discovered a more sustainable approach to cannabis cultivation. We learned about Dr. Elaign Ingham's soil food web philosophy and began exploring organic methods and soil microbiology. We quickly saw the benefits of this approach, including more pronounced flavor, smoother smoke, and a reduced need for intensive inputs. Not only was this better for the environment, but it also enhanced the overall quality and enjoyment of our products. This discovery sparked a passion in us to share this soil revolution with others and build a team to help us achieve our goals.
Closing Loops
Our farm is committed to regenerative and sustainable practices that not only benefit our business but also the environment and community. Our goal is to reduce our water usage, carbon footprint, and regenerate the soils through living soil practices, companion planting, no-till methods, and implementing a flock of sheep for prescribed grazing. Our farming practices include data-driven input reduction, using only organic and locally sourced inputs, and closing loops by recycling all plant biomass and food waste through various composting methods. Our farm systems include Bokashi Composting, Static Composting, Thermophilic Composting, Vermicomposting, and Jadam Fermentation. These techniques allow us to close nutrient loops and recycle nutrients back into our soil, which helps cultivate new microbial species and create a healthy, balanced environment for our plants to thrive.
